- The journey is never a straight line.
The journey is never a straight line.
Remain open to where the journey can take you.
Business is extremely unpredictable.
You don’t know where or how it is going to go.
You might have a plan.
But once you hit the market, all bets are off.
Nothing during your entrepreneurial ride is a guarantee.
But it might be made easier if you are open to how you can go about executing.
So let’s discuss the power of remaining open-minded about the process of building your company.
Pro-Tip: Be open to what the bsuiness can become
TeachOne is the company I own and operate today.
It started its journey as a Chrome extension for advanced degree students to comment on web articles and PDFs.
Now, we are a services company that helps organizations integrate software solutions.
A pivot that has generated $18.5K in annual revenue to date.
Before this pivot, we hadn’t generated anything.
When I started this company I didn’t think it would be a services business.
I was bullish on creating a highly scalable software product.
I’d probably be stuck in the same position if I didn’t think bigger.
Hence why it is important to remain open-minded about how your entrepreneurial journey can unfold.
Pro-Tip: Let the market dictate your destiny.
When I started TeachOne the goal was to build a highly scalable software product.
I concluded after engaging with potential customers, that the solution we designed isn’t quite what they need.
They didn’t need another software solution.
They needed someone who could help them acquire and configure software intelligently.
So that is what we decided to do. To break through our pre-revenue goal.
If I stayed too attached to the idea of building a “Software Product.”
Then I would probably be stuck in the same place right now.
By remaining open to what the market needs.
It’s easier to build the solution they want today.
Pro-Tip: Marry the problem, not the solution.
The problem you’ve identified in the market can be solved in hundreds of ways.
You will likely see hundreds of competitors similarly attempting to solve that same problem.
It is your role to identify the way to best deliver that to the marketplace.
The only way to figure this out is by engaging with them and designing a solution around what you learn.
In the end, the market will tell you what they need.
Learning to listen and apply is the key.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday ✨
