Procrastination is killing your dream

How often do we tell ourselves…

I’ll start this when

if only I had this, then

it’s not the right time to…

These phrases keep us from doing the things we know we can.

So how do we push through this?

Pro-Tip: Remove the friction between you and whatever needs to be done.

One of the most powerful books I’ve read is Atomic Habits by James Clear.

If you’ve read the book you probably already know that he he speaks a lot about adding and removing friction.

Between the things you want to do more and the things you want to do less.

So, how can we apply this ideology and take our visions to the next level?

At the beginning of the year, I had a goal.

I wanted to produce more written content on LinkedIn.

Since I’ve maintained 8 months of posting an average of 4-6x per week

and have gained close to 1,000 new followers.

One of the massive things that helped me consistently create more content
without burning.

Removing friction.

How?

Simple.

I started using my phone to work instead of my laptop.

It’s always in my pocket.

I’m on it constantly for various reasons.

So I thought…

why not leverage it to get more done?

I would take the opportunity to use my phone to write

  • When I’m walking my dog

  • When I’m sitting by the pool

  • When I am in between sets at the gym

During those moments I’m jotting down

  • Ideas

  • Topics

  • Small notes

that I can flesh out later into larger posts.

This helped me cut out friction by reducing effort.

I don’t have to walk over to my laptop.

Open it up…

Make sure it's charged.

So many steps…

TOO. MANY. STEPS.

When inspiration strikes

I simply pull out my phone and click into my:

  • Notes

  • Notion

  • Threads

and let it rip.

Pro-Tip: Repurpose work wherever possible.

In school, we were taught that reusing previous work was cheating.

Well, good thing life isn’t school.

And as entrepreneurs, we need every edge we can get.

So how can we reuse previous work to get more done?

For example: I like to meet with founders for 15 minutes to connect,
share ideas, and help.

Those conversations both inspire and fuel what we cover in these newsletters.

Turning 15 minutes into 500+ words (give or take).

I do the same thing for content creation.

For example:

  • I create a Thread

  • That then gets developed into a LinkedIn post

  • That then may get developed into a newsletter

  • Which also gets shared in the form of a TikTok/IG Reel

Hell, if I write enough of these newsletters, I might have enough content
for a book one day ;)

It comes down to this.

How can we compound the work we are already doing?

So that every effort is an investment into the work we will eventually do in the future.

This framework can be applied anywhere.

Wrote an email reminding someone about a meeting?
- Make it an automation for every new meeting booked in the future.

Created a presentation for an upcoming client?
- Make it a template and remix it for future projects.

This not only saves you time but also ensures consistent output with little
effort for each new attempt.

Question: How can we remix work already created for a new purpose?

Pro-Tip: The goal is to get the thing DONE.
Not PERFECT.

Life isn’t perfect.

Cliché I know…

but it’s worth remembering because if life isn’t perfect

how can we expect our business to be?

There is never a perfect time to start.

What we do know for sure is that to eventually find success

you have to actually start...

So now the question becomes

What are you waiting for?

How did you like today’s newsletter?
