Cut the sh*t and get more done

Set harder deadlines

When things don’t get done we tend to have every excuse
in the book for why they didn't.

Something came up.

Life got in the way.

Or did we just give ourselves too much time?

Let’s explore how we can leave less room for life to interfere and get more done.

Give yourself less time to do the thing.

Let’s be honest…

humans tend to procrastinate.

This isn’t a sign you are lazy.

It is just a sign that you are human.

How can you hedge against this natural tendency?

Set a deadline and honor it.

Deadlines are not just a great way to ensure you finish things.

They are also a great way to build trust and confidence within yourself.

This isn’t to say we will hit the mark every time.

Again, we are human…

So make sure to give yourself grace when it’s appropriate.

That being said, if you give yourself a week to do something

you are probably going to take a week to do it.

But, if you give yourself a couple of days and the outcome
is reasonably in your control

then you may find a way to finish it in a couple of days.

C work is a good place to start.

This might be tough for all the A+ students to hear but

life isn’t like school.

Sometimes you just have to get your first draft out into the world

so you can continue to build on the feedback you receive.

So don’t over-scrutinize your work or have anxiety about
what others might think about it.

Truthfully, no one gives a f*ck.

At least not as much as you do.

So just get it out there, leave room for improvement

and keep moving forward

What’s holding us back is often ourselves.

We overanalyze.

We over-scrutinize.

Ultimately keeping ourselves in a place where ideas live

with no action to back them up.

Just let the dang thing rip!

Listen to the feedback.

Adjust your solution based on what you hear.

And do that again, and again, and again.

Until you get it right.

That being said…
